Take a walk through the streets, alleys and nooks of Adelaide and you’ll discover its vibrant street art culture and probably encounter a whole lot more along the way. It is a great way to explore the different environments within the city.
The public art movement has exploded in Adelaide in the last decade as it probably has elsewhere. Street art by its nature is fleeting and forever changing so you’ll always have some new art to discover.
I spend a lot of my time hunting down some of the best street art in the city. I have curated 10 pieces here that feature local talent and include some international artists which can be followed as a walking trail. At the bottom of this post you will find my Adelaide City Centre Street Art Google Map to guide you. The full walk will take approximately an hour, depending how long you stop at each point, and is 3.5 kilometres in length.
I suggest that you commence your walk from the Adelaide Central Market where you can enjoy a hearty breakfast or lunch from one of the many eateries. This will allow you to finish up in Adelaide’s ‘east end’, where you can stop, relax and watch the world go by at one of the many great coffee spots, bars, cafes and restaurants.
If you find that you’re getting a case of weary feet just hop on the city tram to get back, it’s free travelling within the city centre.
You will see an amazing array of street art in Adelaide along the way. So please enjoy the adventure, and always remember that the best photo opportunity may lie in wait behind you.

1. Shanti
Artist: Vans the Omega Address: 68 Moonta Street – Chinatown Plaza
A portrait of the artist’s friend Shanti, shining a light on the strength of youth and the Australian Chinese community. His intention was to show Shanti’s power, essence, and soul.
2. Market Daydream
Artist: Malicious Delicious Address: Adelaide Central Market – Grote Street Entrance
Malicious Delicious’ work seeks to capture the spirit and cultural heritage of its location with the aim of depicting the many aspects of the liveliness of the market centre.
3. Hemispheres
Artist: Vans the Omega Address: Mellor Street
“It’s about the masculine and feminine side of the brain, balancing the two and the harmony that comes from that. It features a mother and son – which both embodies this message and portrays the unique work Common Ground is doing in the CBD as a housing provider which can now help single parents and children.” – Vans the Omega
4. Jimi Hendrix
Artist: Jack Fran Address: 181 Hindley Street – Jive Night Club
This colourful mural pays tribute to the much-admired guitarist Jimi Hendrix.
5. She Imagined Buttons
Artist: Jasmine Crisp Address: Corner of Morphett Street and Hindley Street
This piece was commissioned by the Adelaide City Council to celebrate some of the city’s artists. It’s a bright and colourful mural inspired by Sia Furler a singer, formerly of Adelaide.
6. City of Music
Artist: Dave Court Address: 22-32 Morphett Road
In 2015 Adelaide became a designated UNESCO City of Music. The aim of this project was to highlight the excellence, diversity and cultural history of Adelaide as a City of Music. It is the largest mural to ever appear in Adelaide’s city centre.
7. Wall Flower
Artist: Vans the Omega Address: Gresham Street
It features the artist’s friend Sonia, placing her directly opposite one of her favourite bars, La Buvette.
“It’s not your typical pose where you’re looking into the person’s eyes or at their profile. The intention was that people look at this and still see how happy she is.” – Vans the Omega
8. Tribute to Clint Keneally
Artist: Vans the Omega Address: Corner Grenfell and Hyde Street
A tribute to Clint Kenneally a well-known member of the Adelaide skateboard community who passed away in late 2016.
9. Rainbow Queen Love Goddess
Artist: Mimby Jones Robinson Address: Tam o’ Shanter Place
“Every day I am filled with so much gratitude that I have found my purpose in life and that is to bring love, colour and beauty to a world that doesn’t always reflect that.” – Mimby
10. Zaluuokhin
Artist: Fin DAC Address: 16 Vardon Avenue
The featured model is Meghna Lall. This work is a part of the artist’s ‘Hidden Beauty’ series which are created in undisclosed locations around the world. This portrait features a beautiful woman represented in the form of a futuristic Asian goddess.
If you have the chance to see this piece of work at night, the adornments hanging from the model’s head appear to light up.
